Summer doesn’t technically end until late September, but as far as Kaia Gerber and Lewis Pullman are concerned, it’s already fall. Last night, the couple pulled their jackets out of storage for a dinner date in Los Angeles.
Vogue’s September cover star has been on an LBD kick as of late, promoting her new show, The Shards, in everything from a Breakfast at Tiffany’s-esque Prada number to an ode to Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Last night, Gerber continued her love affair with the do-everything, go-anywhere little black dress, wearing a knee-length slip beneath an oversized khaki trench. Her accessories were just as classic: black block-heeled ballerinas, rectangular sunglasses, hoop earrings, and a Chanel bag. And, in case her trench wasn’t keeping her warm enough (we checked and temps dipped to the upper 60s yesterday in SoCal), Gerber slung a brown sweater around her neck like a scarf—an effortless touch.

Pullman was on the same sartorial page, opting for transseasonal pieces. While his off-white cuffed jeans and matching Vans slip-ons were appropriately summery, his navy chore coat and blue crewneck look ahead to fall.
While we’re still in the dog days of summer, Kaia Gerber and Lewis Pullman are offering plenty of inspiration for the soon-to-come transitional dressing. Anyone else feel a whisper of a chill in the air? OK, just making sure it isn’t just us.
