The hot weather and long lines couldn’t stop more than 80,000 fans from filling the stands of MetLife Stadium during the 2026 World Cup, as the titan teams of Spain and Argentina faced off in a ferocious final. And the affair was as star-studded as it was tense: the match’s opening ceremony spectacle brought British pop legend Robbie Williams (in a crystal-embellished blue tracksuit), Tom Cruise, Nicole Scherzinger, Laura Pausini, Post Malone, Swae Lee, and Jennifer Hudson to the field.
The stands were teeming with celebrity couples, too, each person looking as rapt as their respective partner. Still riding high from his beloved New York Knicks’ NBA victory, Timothée Chalamet appeared once again at a game, bringing along girlfriend Kylie Jenner (with whom he shared a buzzy kiss). Newlyweds Dua Lipa and Callum Turner were locked in behind their coordinating sunglasses, while Rihanna and A$AP Rocky sipped Champagne. Beyoncé and Jay-Z, fresh from their show at Yankee Stadium last week, looked calm and collected as they spectated from the VIP area. Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso also made their allegiances clear, with the latter in an Argentina jersey and bucket hat. Victoria and David Beckham were of course present, too.
