How to post on Instagram from your desktop

Instagram has had a slew of new updates recently, from being able to add music to your Instagram notes (if you actually use those), to including up to five links in your bio now. One much-requested update came a few years ago though — having a viable way to post via your desktop or laptop.

Launched globally in October 2021, the feature allows creators to post photos or videos via their web browser. The response to this was overwhelmingly positive(opens in a new tab), with many creators saying this was the update they’d actually been waiting for. If you count yourself amongst them, here’s a quick guide how to post on Instagram from your desktop.

What You Need

  • Your desktop/laptop and an Instagram account

Step 1:
Go to Instagram.com on your browser and head towards the sidebar on the left.

Here, click on the “Create” option at the bottom of the sidebar.

Add a caption and other details.

Like on your phone, the web version of Instagram gives you the option to add a caption and/or location on the post. You can also tag people.
