Political parties and forces: Global Coalition and Russian Federation must take decisive measure against Turkey

Political parties and forces in north and east Syria have called on the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS and the Russian Federation to take strict measures against Turkey and impose an air embargo on north and east Syria; To prevent a new occupation, it calls on the daughters and sons of our people to carry out activities, events and pressure campaigns in order to stop this aggression and hold Turkey accountable for its crimes against humanity.

Political parties and forces in north and east Syria made a statement to public opinion, regarding Turkish threats to north and east Syria. It was stated in its text:

“Despite the issuance of many international statements and positions calling for the Turkish state to abide by the two ceasefire agreements signed in October 2019, and not to carry out any new military operation or invasion of north and east Syria, these statements have not been listened to, but rather continue Turkey in its hostile actions towards the peoples of the region through political assassinations by drones and the continuous military bombing of cities, towns and villages in north and east Syria and Başûr in Makhmour and Sinjar, the most recent of which was the assassination of Mr. Farhad Shibli, the Vice co-chairmanship of the Autonomous Administration in Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The statement added, “Despite international statements and positions that demanded Turkey not to threaten or aggression, but it continued to implement its regional expansion project and occupied the cities of Afrin, Tal Abyad and Serêkaniyê, and committed the most heinous war crimes against innocent civilians, and carried out ethnic cleansing, forced displacement and demographic change against its residents.” The indigenous peoples, due to the lack of any firm UN position warning them of international accountability for their violations of international law and international humanitarian law, and this is what encouraged them to complete their expansion project today, by occupying more Syrian lands.

The statement stressed, “Turkey, which is a member of the International Coalition to Defeat ISIS, behaves as a rogue state in the Middle East and practices state terrorism policies against the peoples of the region, and has never fought ISIS on its borders for years, but on the contrary, it facilitated and assisted the entry of terrorists into Syria.” It harbors many terrorist leaders of ISIS and Jabhet al-Nusra in the areas it occupied, and any new military action by it in north and east Syria will blow up all the achievements of the international coalition and its partners, the Syrian Democratic Forces, and undermine their efforts to fight the terrorist organization ISIS, spread chaos, and cause waves of asylum to Europe and other countries. It creates the right environment for the world’s most dangerous terrorists, who are in prisons and camps, to take over the region again.”

The statement demanded, “Based on the foregoing, we, the political parties and forces in north and east Syria, demand the member states of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, in particular the United States of America, the United Kingdom and France, as well as the Russian Federation to take strict measures against Turkey and impose an air embargo on north and east Syria to prevent any new invasion that would harm the lives of millions of civilians. We also call on the daughters and sons of our people at home and abroad to carry out activities, events and pressure campaigns in order to stop this aggression and hold Turkey accountable for its crimes against humanity.
