Russia says its forces are observing a partial ceasefire to allow residents of the encircled Ukrainian cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha to flee fighting.

The Russian defence ministry said its units had opened humanitarian corridors from 10am Moscow time (0700 GMT). Civilians will be allowed to leave Mariupol between noon and 5pm (0900 – 1400 GMT), Russia’s RIA news agency quoted city authorities as saying.
