Stylist Christy Lee wasn’t expecting her boyfriend Post Malone’s proposal when they went to visit his Utah ranch—but there were signs something was coming. The singer, born Austin Post, had a plan in motion to design the perfect ring for the bride-to-be. “A couple months before the proposal, Austin started casually slipping these very ‘hypothetical’ questions about rings into conversation, trying to figure out what I liked without giving himself away,” Christy shares with Vogue. “One day, completely out of the blue, he asked me, ‘Pear, heart, or cushion?’ I told him I’d always thought there was something so chic about an oval.”
Another time, he asked if she liked a ring with diamonds wrapped along a band or framing a center stone. “I told him I actually preferred the opposite—something very simple, with a delicate, thin gold band,” Christy says. Finally, the musician asked her if there was such a thing as a ring being too big. “I jokingly told him I didn’t think so,” she shares.
Austin pulled together those little notes and got to work. The singer met with Angel City Jewelers to craft a ring that fit every response Christy gave him over those months. On August 17, 2026, Austin surprised Christy with a stunning, custom 20-plus carat natural oval diamond ring on a delicate gold band. “When I saw it, I was honestly speechless,” she shares. “He had somehow taken all of those little conversations and created exactly what I would have chosen for myself.”
“Looking back, it’s incredibly sweet knowing how much thought he put into creating something that felt entirely my own,” says Christy. “Austin worked closely with his jeweler Isaac to create it, and it feels incredibly special knowing how much thought went into every detail.”
The days surrounding Post Malone’s proposal had many more surprises than just the ring as a marker of building the next step of their life together. When the two went to spend time at the singer’s new Utah ranch, they arrived to find a few new friends hanging out in the barn. “Austin first surprised me with a baby Highland cow, bunnies, and chickens,” shares Christy.
