Rosé’s 2026 Met Gala Look Is a Lesson in Both Art History and Fashion History

The 2026 Met Gala being her third, Rosé has it all pretty much down pat by now. Only sweetening the deal this year is the fact that her friend Anthony Vaccarello of Saint Laurent is co-chairing the hosting committee. “The first time attended I the Met was with Anthony. I was super nervous and anxious, but it meant so much that I got to walk down the carpet with my best friend and favorite designer of all time,” Rosé tells Vogue. “The fact that this year he’s a committee co-chair makes it even more exciting and meaningful. And it feels nice to come and support him in the presence of fashion and art.”

For 2026, Rosé took a dive into the annals of art and fashion history with the help of her stylist, Law Roach. Together, they settled on a strapless black gown inspired by two different Saint Laurent collections: spring 1998 and spring 2002 couture. “We landed on this very classic Saint Laurent look, and as we were studying I learned that YSL has repeatedly used this bird design,” the singer says, referring to the motif of The Birds, a painting by Georges Braque on the ceiling of the Louvre. “It’s quite an iconic image, and Anthony has even repeated it in his most recent collection and he had it on the earrings.”

The only dilemma was where to place the bird pin that finishes her look, created with Tiffany & Co. diamonds—but that matter was settled once she tried the dress on. “I remember when we finally did fittings, I was blown away with the fit of the dress and how the bird sat so perfectly on Anthony’s design,” Rosé recalls. “The placement of the diamond facing the bird’s beak and the shade of how the silver and beads play off each other is just really beautiful.”
