Vogue Club recently gave two lucky members the chance to attend Tommy Hilfiger’s NYFW Fall-Winter runway show—see below for our link to the video vlog of our first winner, Ketmanee Tychsen, and now Tracey Martin, a founding Vogue Club member, is here to tell us how she traveled from Washington, DC to New York to attend the show, held at the Oyster Bar inside the iconic Grand Central Station.
Here’s Tracey’s account of the day—and some of her favorite moments.
My own look:
When my custom look from Tommy arrived in advance of the show, I was ecstatic—I wore a white vest with a white shirt, blue Tommy Jeans trousers, and black boots. It had a sexy, nineties street feel.
The morning of the show:
I was so excited—okay, I was nervous! Everything was hectic—it’s New York Fashion Week, that’s how it goes!
On arrival:
Grand Central station was super-packed, with swarms of fashion fans awaiting celebrity arrivals—including a lot of excited K-pop fans!
The atmosphere:
The music was awesome—Questlove was there, playing alongside Jon Batiste! Here’s a clip:
The Crowd
I had a big fangirl moment: I saw Michael Rainey Jr. and spent some time talking with him—he was very gracious. It was kind of surreal!
The View From The Front Row
The show was lively and so jubilant—a real celebration of life! The models walked fast—much faster than I expected, for some reason—but I had an amazing view, both of them and what they were wearing.
Looks That Stood Out
There was one gentleman wearing a herringbone coat with a varsity bomber underneath, with a baseball cap up top and sneakers down below. I loved that look—it was giving preppy, plus B-boy. Another look I loved involved a corduroy blazer with a beige and brown pleated skirt. The model had a slick ponytail, and the clean lines of the outfit complemented her angles.
I Was Shocked To See…
Oversized patterns—I was especially concerned when I saw oversized scarves, but when paired with other elements, they totally worked.
